Josh Dawsey, Meridith McGraw, Olivia Beavers, and Gavin Bade Set to Join in the Coming Weeks
New York, NY – [January 6, 2025] – The Wall Street Journal has officially announced the addition of four reporters to its Washington D.C. bureau, enhancing the newsroom with some of the foremost journalists in the industry covering the White House, Congress, and trade. Josh Dawsey, Meridith McGraw, Olivia Beavers, and Gavin Bade will begin their roles over the next month under the leadership of Washington Coverage Chief Damian Paletta.
“I am excited to welcome Josh, Meridith, Olivia, and Gavin to our exceptional Washington bureau,” stated Paletta. “They are exceptional journalists and colleagues who will provide our readers with deep insights into how Washington influences the country and vice versa.”
Josh Dawsey returns to the Journal to join the bureau’s enterprise team as a political investigations reporter. Dawsey comes from The Washington Post, where he has spent the last seven years, most recently recognized as an award-winning political investigations and enterprise reporter. Before that, he was a White House reporter for POLITICO and started his career with the Journal covering political affairs. Dawsey is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and will join the Journal on February 3.
Meridith McGraw comes to the Journal to cover the White House. Her most recent position was as a national political correspondent for POLITICO, focusing on the 2024 presidential race and the incoming presidency of Donald Trump, alongside Republican political dynamics. McGraw conducted extensive coverage of the Trump White House during his first term and beyond. She previously worked as a producer and reporter for ABC News, where she started her career and contributed to two Emmy Award-winning teams. She will start on January 15.
Olivia Beavers will join the WSJ team focused on Congress. Most recently, she was a congressional reporter at POLITICO, where she focused on House Republicans and GOP leadership. She previously worked for The Hill, where she broke news on House-led investigations, Trump’s first impeachment, and former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, along with the congressional inquiries related to Russia. Beavers began her career as a news associate at CNN and will start on January 15.
Gavin Bade will assume the trade beat at a pivotal time as the incoming Trump administration outlines an ambitious trade agenda. He was most recently a trade and economics reporter for POLITICO, covering the administration’s and Congress’ policies on industrial matters and other trade topics.
